Buying a piece of the pitch
Sorry if this has been done or if i've missed it but i've not seen anything on whether us fans can buy a piece of the upton park pitch, anyone know if there are any plans in place to sell it off? They've sold everything else why not the pitch?

Re: Buying a piece of the pitch
Been on a tour today. Everything is starting to comedown - however it was really good. We got into Slavens office - they let us on the pitch and got to snoop everywhere.

The pitch is hard and patchy. You can pick up some grass but its all knitted and sanded underneath so I doubt they'll be able to sell pieces of it - of course if they can they will.

If I buy enough to stand on, and actually stand on it, do I acquire the football prowess of a young Trevor Brooking? Or even that of Carlton Cole?

If not, I'm out.

Don't forget P&P... my mate reckons he got an e-mail from the club saying the seat he bought for £50-00 (mug) did not include P&P and that he had to get up the club to pick it up??!!

Anyone else heard this??

Re: Buying a piece of the pitch
I played a 5-a-side tournament on there a few weeks ago, had a big clump of turf stuck to my studs at the end.

That and my seat are now stored under my bed.

I played on the day of the last ever pitch hire and it was still miles ahead of anything I'd ever played on.

Re: Buying a piece of the pitch
Most Premier League pitches have a synthetic element now. Haven't you noticed how they never get cut up or boggy during the wet autumn and winter months? It's all for the Sky TV image you see. Got to have a presentable product, and there is truth in that.

I went on the pitch at half time (to take some penalties) when they played the Royal Engineers v Upton Park FC game on 30th May. It would be fair to say that the intense hiring of the pitch had taken it's toll. It was hardly lush grass!!!

Its a bit like the Berlin Wall. In the USA they've enough Berlin Wall for the whole of Germany.
I reckon you could buy enough Upton Park for all the stadia in London.

I also done demo job for keltbray when they knocked down old Highbury and if you looked on ebay loads of tipper drivers were selling pieces of turf from Arsenal ground quite easy when you take a picture from your cab and then dig it up from any garden so as they say buyer beware.

Here's a story for you.

Pal of mine was at the last game, he got on his pals shoulders to pull down a sign that's on the , he pulled the sign at one end but the sign swung down and cut the blokes head open, had to get an ambulance from the ground.

Serves him right the silly cunt.

Fucking pathetic grown adults buying a piece of fucking grass that was probably only laid 2 weeks before the last game.

Grow up.

I don't know why they aren't selling it. I have a piece of the old Wembley pitch in glass somewhere.
